Dawn Gates, MH is a registered nurse, master herbalist and aromatherapist who has been studying natural and spiritual healing for over 18 years. She has studied with herbal greats like Mathew Woods, Rosemary Gladstar, Candis Cantin, Phillis Light, Dottie Running Horse, Lise Wolf, and Susun Weed. Herbal Aphrodisiacs Come learn the herbs that were traditionally used as aphrodisiacs by increasing endurance, blood circulation, and reception to sexuality. In this class we will not only be discussing the herbs used as aphrodisiacs we will be creating personal (for you or your partner) herbal blends that will be made into teas or herbal pills that you will take home and experiment with on the most romantic of days. Did you know that carpet alone has over 1000 toxins that may cause depression, Alzheimer’s, asthma and many more disorders? By detoxifying our bodies at least once a year we can avoid several common dis-orders. This class will teach you how to do a yearly all-purpose detoxification as well as organ specific detoxification programs. February 28, 2010 @ Avalon in Orlando 4-6pm. Cost $50.00. A six month class that will cover the top 100+ herbs that every herbal student should know. Information includes; what to use the plants for, doctrine of signatures related to each plant, growing conditions/locations, medical uses, contraindications, standard dosages, and specific indications by disease pattern. Case studies and basic diagnostic methods will be discussed. Students who desire herbalist certification to practice will take a test, Classes meet for 1 Sunday a month for 6 months. March 14 @ Avalon in Orlando 4:00-7:00 Cost: $300.00 Class size is limited, register early- Patterns of Dis-ease in the Face, Ears, Skin, and Pulse In ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine practitioners use a system of uncovering imbalances using changes or abnormalities in the pulse or facial appearance. This class is a six month series that will teach the student how to look at the tongue, ears, skin, and face to look for color and pattern changes that indicate an imbalance. We will also learn/feel pulses and determine abnormalities that show an imbalance and talk about how to correct dis-order in the body. This class is for the beginning or advanced herbalist, natural healer, or other medical professional who wants to expand their knowledge of identifying dis-ease patterns. This class is part of herbal and aromatherapy certification programs. March 21 @ Avalon in Orlando. 4-7 pm. Cost: $350.00. Worship of the Goddess Integrate the Goddess and her energies into your life! In this seminar we will discuss Goddess worship in multiple cultures and pantheons, how to build an alter to your patron Goddess and how to integrate her worship into your life. Please wear comfortable clothes because we will be doing a guided meditation during the class to help you connect to your personal Goddess. Proceeds will be donated to United Earth Foundation. Cost: $30.00 April 25th 4:00- 7:00 @ Avalon in Orlando Herbal Witches Cabinet Learn the basic herbs that every witch should have in her cupboard for things like protection, scrying, healing, etc. We will learn some of the history behind the herbs and why they have the magical associations that they do. We will also be discussing several ways to make herbal blends for both tea and incense. June 6th @ Avalon 4-6:30 Cost: $20.00 Building a Crystal Energy Generator Have you ever been to a place where you could “feel” powerful energy around you? Imagine what you could do if you had that kind of energy to tap from whenever you needed it. In this class we will discuss how to create a crystal energy generator using crystals and other sacred objects in your home or at work. July 18th @ Avalon in Orlando. 4-6:30 pm. Live Oak School of Natural Healing Herbalist Certification Programs- Learn to become a Lay Herbalist, Certified Herbalist, or Master Herbalist! Aromatherapy 200- Aromatherapy course for those who desire deeper training into essential oils. In this class we cover chemical structure, 20 more essential oils, how to use them to treat illness and how to use them in different mediums (bath salts, carrier oils, etc.) to treat different diseases. CEU's offered.
Aromatherapy 400- A 6 month course on aromatherapy that will make the taker compedent to be a practicing aromatherapist. Skills taught include basic anatomy and physiology, history, chemical structures, over 50 essential oils, and how to use them in a practice. A test will be given (to those who desire certification) and passing students will recieve certification and CEU's. Diagnostics 101 and advanced diagnostics must be completed prior to certification.
Beginning Herbalism- A beginning course in herbalism. In this class we cover over 50 herbs and their medicinal properties, case studies are discussed and hands on learning is involved (tasting, touching, smelling, herb walks). CEU's are offered. Classes met for one full weekend or (3) 1 day weekend days.
Advanced Herbalism- This is an advanced class in herbalism for the more serious student. In this class we will be studying over 150 herbs (in depth), discussing case studies, learning basic diagnostic methods, and doing more hands on learning. Students who desire herbalist certification will take a test, and recieve CEU's (For those who wish to recieve the schools blessing (and certificate) to become a herbal practitioner diagnostics 101 and advanced diagnostics must be taken. Classes meet for 1 weekend a month for 6 months.
Making Herbal Medicine- A class for those who want to learn how to make their own salves, tinctures, bath salts, teas and so much more. Learn the secrets from someone who has been making and selling her medicine for over 12 years.
Diagnostic Methods 101 - In this class I teach students about how to diagnose illness by looking at the face, tounge, and skin. Students in this class will also learn about pulse testing and learn several types of Chinese pulses. These methods of diagnosis are over 5,000 years old, and very valuable to the herbalist/healer. CEU's are offered and class meets 1 weekend a month for 2 months.
Advanced Diagnostic Methods- this is an advanced class about facial/body diagnosis. In this class we will deeply explore what the different colors and lines are on the face, hands, and tounge. We will also go into diagnosing by looking at the ear, hands, and nails. We will also introduce the student to the 32 differerent pulses that are used by TCM practitioners. This class is for the student who wishes to become a serious practitioner. This class lasts 3-4 months. Ceu's are offered and classes meet 1 weekend a month for 4 months. Diagnostics 101 a prerequsite.
How to Start an Herbal Business- In this class we will discuss the ways to start a practice. In this class we will discuss how to get your name out there, how to attract clients and how to keep them once you have gotten them, how to advertise effectivly, how to get refferals, how to file for a tax ID and how to keep financial records.
Advanced students who have completed advanced practice classes may inquire about a 1-2 year apprenticeship program.
